Bay Haven Child Advocacy Center

Program Overview

Bay Haven is also providing community education and referral services for a developing Child Advocacy Center. A Child Advocacy Center (CAC) is a place where a child and their safe caregiver can visit following a concern of serious maltreatment, such as sexual abuse, physical abuse, commercial sexual exploitation, and/or witnessing violence. The team, providing services beyond housing for those supporting child victims of sexual and physical abuse, coordinates services around the best interests of the child. The Bay Haven Child Advocacy Center is separate from the shelter and does not provide housing. Add some text here.

The Bay Haven Child Advocacy Center is made possible by the U.S. Department of Justice, The Seventh Generation Fund for Indigenous Peoples, the State of Alaska Council on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, and many other valued partners and donors.

Please call if you or a child you know is experiencing domestic violence or sexual assault in the Hooper Bay region. Bay Haven staff are here for you.

Who We Serve

We offer specialized support beyond housing – Bay Haven’s expanded services include community education and referral support for a developing Child Advocacy Center (CAC), focusing on children who have experienced serious maltreatment such as sexual abuse, physical abuse, exploitation, or exposure to violence.

Child-Centered Coordination

The team works to coordinate services around the best interests of the child, offering a safe space for both the child and their caregiver to receive support following concerns of abuse—distinct from the shelter’s housing services.

Separate Facility for Advocacy Services

Operates independently from the shelter and does not provide housing, emphasizing its role as a dedicated resource for advocacy, education, and coordinated care for child victims.
