Resilient Alaska Youth

Program Overview

RurAL CAP’s Resilient Alaska Youth (RAY) program addresses rural Alaska’s high rates of youth substance abuse and suicide through the cultivation of resiliency, supportive relationships, positive cultural identity, and community health and wellness.

We work to decrease rates of youth substance abuse and suicide.

Who We Serve

RAY serves rural Alaska communities by supporting youth in building resilience and healthy relationships.

Services Provided

We hire and train local Youth Activity Coordinators who lead after-school programs, life-skill lessons, and community wellness activities for youth.

How to Apply

Apply online to become a RAY Youth Activity Coordinator or connect with your local partner organization to learn more about hosting a coordinator in your community.

Youth Activities Coordinators

In collaboration with local partners, RAY Youth Activity Coordinators plan and implement curriculum across communities statewide. Coordinators are individuals over 18 who promote positive development and experiential learning in youth through after school activities and life-skill building.

RAY Coordinators are recruited locally from their communities by a partner organization like tribal or city councils, local schools, or health clinics. Successful applicants work with their supervisor and locally identified site monitor to work closely with community residents. Coordinators need no previous experience working with youth, though they must be able to pass a background check and express interest in working with local children.
