Families affected by Typhoon Halong now have access to coordinated, long-term recovery support through RurAL CAP’s Disaster Response Case Management program.
In partnership with the Halong Alaska Recovery Team, RurAL CAP is helping individuals and families navigate the complex recovery process with one-on-one guidance and access to critical resources. Services include assistance with FEMA applications and appeals, housing options, financial planning, as well as connections to essential needs such as food, subsistence resources, and emotional support.
“Recovery doesn’t end after the storm passes,” Joie Millett, RurAL CAP Community Development Director stated. “Our team works alongside families to create a path forward-connecting them to the tools and support they need to relocate or rebuild safely and sustainably.”
Case managers provide ongoing support to ensure families can stabilize and recover over time, not just in the immediate aftermath. This includes helping residents understand available programs, identifying unmet needs, and accessing long-term solutions.
Community members impacted by Typhoon Halong are encouraged to reach out for assistance or complete an intake form to get connected with services.
