Rural Energy Enterprises
Rural Energy Enterprises, Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of RurAL CAP and a wholesale distributor of energy-efficient, direct-vent heating systems. Established in 1987, Rural Energy now serves more than 300 businesses throughout Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Washington, Wyoming, British Columbia, the Yukon, and the Northwest Territories.

RurAL CAP Foundation
Managed by Rural Energy Enterprises, Inc., the RurAL CAP Foundation provides grants that support educational and charitable projects benefiting low-income individuals and rural communities in Alaska.
Grants range from $500 to $25,000, with most awards averaging between $2,500 and $10,000. Larger awards are considered on a case-by-case basis. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations and governmental entities serving rural Alaska.
Types of funded projects include:
- Initiatives that encourage knowledge sharing and volunteer engagement.
- Events where community members learn skills for life (e.g., youth music camps, Elders teaching youth subsistence practices).
- Projects with lasting community impact (e.g., community gardens, recycling centers).
- Trainings that strengthen local government capacity (e.g., project design and proposal writing workshops).
