Bay Haven Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Shelter
In partnership with the Native Village of Hooper Bay, the Bay Haven Shelter provides the communities of Hooper Bay, Chevak, and Scammon Bay with a trauma-informed shelter for individuals who have experienced domestic violence and sexual assault (DV/SA). Though located in Hooper Bay, the shelter benefits surrounding regional communities by reducing the distance and expense required to travel and receive timely victim services.
Operating out of a facility provided by the Sea Lion Corporation, the shelter houses up to 15 victims of crime, with coverage 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our services include victim advocacy, legal assistance, referral services, community education, and domestic violence/sexual assault support. All of our resources embrace traditional teachings that guide trauma informed service delivery.
The Bay Haven Shelter is made possible by the U.S. Department of Justice, The Seventh Generation Fund for Indigenous Peoples, and many other community partners and donors.
Please call if you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence or sexual assault in the Hooper Bay region. Bay Haven staff are here for you.
