Bay Haven Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Shelter

For More Information

In collaboration with the Native Village of Hooper Bay, Chevak Traditional Council, and the Native Village of Scammon Bay, the Bay Haven Shelter provides safe, accessible, and culturally grounded support to individuals in Hooper Bay, Chevak, and Scammon Bay who are experiencing domestic violence and sexual assault (DV/SA).

Operating in a facility owned by the Sea Lion Corporation, the shelter can support up to 15 clients, with trauma-informed staff available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The shelter benefits surrounding regional communities by reducing the distance and expense required to travel and receive timely victim services. Our services include victim advocacy, legal referrals, emergency support, safety planning, and community outreach. The goal of our cultural and community outreach gatherings is to uplift local voices and encourage meaningful connection, community guidance, and shared feedback.

The Bay Haven Shelter is made possible by the U.S. Department of Justice, The Seventh Generation Fund for Indigenous Peoples, the State of Alaska Council on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, and many other valued partners and donors.

Please call if you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence or sexual assault in the Hooper Bay region. Bay Haven staff are here for you.
