Two artists partnered with the RurAL CAP Resilient Alaska Youth (RAY) AmeriCorps program to host youth arts workshops across the state.
Aassanaaq “Ossie” Kairaiuak, from the Inuit band Pamyua, and Danielle Larsgaard, a domestic violence counselor who recently established the Aliiraq Arts traveling art studio, collaborated with the communities of Chevak, Kokhanok, Ketchikan, Nanwalek, New Stuyahok, and St. Michael this spring. RurAL CAP RAY AmeriCorps workshops brought singing, drum-making, art, healing and a deep dive into local culture to empower, educate, and inspire each community’s youth.
